Lalitha Mahal The second largest palace in Mysore whose foundation stones were laid on November 18, 1921 by the then Maharaja Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV. It is located in near the Chamundi Hills, east of Mysore. The palace has been painted in an eyecatching white color which is visible from a great distance. It wa sspecifically built to house the guests of the Maharaja of Mysore.

After Indian Independence, and with the abolition of the Maharajas, it became a property of the Central Government of India and became one of the elite hotels of the Ashok Group (India Tourism Development Corporation).
